This Privacy Policy explains how Coast FIRE Calculator ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you visit or interact with our website and financial tools.

1. Client-Side Calculation Guarantee

Unlike traditional fintech portals that require user accounts, passwords, and server-side processing, the Coast FIRE Calculator operates 100% on the client side. Every mathematical formula, compound interest curve, and chart rendering is executed locally in your browser's JavaScript memory.

What this means: When you input your current invested balance, monthly contributions, or target retirement spending, that data is never transmitted across the internet to our servers or stored in any database.

2. Browser Local Storage

When you use the "Save Scenario" feature, our website uses your browser's standard localStorage API to save your inputs so you can reload them on future visits. Please note:

  • These scenario records remain strictly on your personal device and browser profile.
  • We do not have access to, nor can we view or sync, your saved scenarios.
  • You can delete all stored scenarios at any time by clearing your browser's cookies and site data.

3. Shareable URLs

If you click the "Share Result" button, the application writes your current parameters into the URL query string (for example, ?age=30&bal=50000...) and copies the link to your clipboard. This allows you to bookmark or send a scenario to a friend. We do not index, catalog, or associate these URL parameters with any personal identity.

4. Server Logs & Technical Metadata

Like virtually all web hosts, our hosting infrastructure automatically collects routine web server logs (such as your anonymized IP address, operating system, browser type, and timestamps) solely for network security, DDoS prevention, and diagnosing technical server faults. These technical logs contain no personal financial inputs.

5. Third-Party Links & Sponsorships

Our website features isolated sponsorship slots and links to reputable external financial resources (such as index fund providers or retirement guides). If you click an external link, you will be redirected to an independent third-party site subject to its own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their policies.
